Depo Shot and Pregnancy

I recently got the Depo shot and I was due for a second one but I decided not to get it. My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex that that day I was due for the second Depo Provera shot. How likely is it for me to get pregnant? Plus I have been spotting on and off for the last two months, is that a symptom?

Depo Shot and Pregnancy

Depo Provera is considered one of the most effective hormonal contraceptives available.

The shots are given in doses where you get the shot once every three months.

If you decide to get pregnant, it is easy to stop taking the shots. Then you would have to wait until the three-month period of effectiveness has lapsed before you expect any development.

Depo has a very low failure rate, the chance of getting pregnant is very low.

There are some known side effects of using the Depo, though.

For one, the monthly period is stopped at once. There could be confusion in here.

You might be worried that one of the common signs of pregnancy is the lack of a monthly period. However, it is a false alarm because when using Depo birth control you would not have a period for as long as you are using it.

I had a question

I just had my first depo shot last month. Then I had unprotected sex on the last day of my period. Can I still get pregnant since I just got my shot only two weeks ago??

Missing the shot

No I don't believe that is a symptom. I've been on the shot for a year and eight months. You haven't had your shot so of course you are going to spot. Eventually you are going to get your period
