Facial tingling in menopause?

by Kristen

Has anyone else experienced tingling skin as a symptom of menopause or perimenopause? Lately I have been experiencing a tingling sensation on my right cheek area. Sometimes it goes to my chin and temple. A few women have told me that they have experienced this when they were starting menopause.

I'm only 35 and will be 36 in March. I have noticed my periods have changed. They are not as heavy or clotty as usual and they don't last as long. My PMS is getting a bit worse which I have noticed for a few months now.

I am also diagnosed with anxiety and when I take my prescribed med for that it lessens the tingling. I even had a CT scan done to rule out any problem in the brain.

So I would like to know if anyone else has had this with pre menopause or is it just my stress. Thanks.

Yes it happens

Yes that kind of tingling is a known symptom of menopause hormone imbalances, and also a symptom of anxiety, so it could be either one or most likely both.

I feel for you and hope you are okay. Every woman goes through menopause but not all of us have to experience anxiety, and especially not both at the same time! Some ways to combat anxiety include yoga, meditation, EFT (emotional freedom technique) kava-kava tea, exercising until you are exhausted and endorphins kick in.

Menopause can also cause itchy skin. It is the hormones again. What I do is use a really high quality skin cream. Give my face a luxury spa treatment :)

One more thing I find that helps anxiety is to remember to always tell myself, "This too shall pass."

Hope you feel better soon.
