Is it normal to have stomach aches and headaches during pregnancy? I really would like to know some of the rare, less-known symptoms of pregnancy.

What if I normally get headaches - how would I determine if it's a pregnancy headache or one of my regular headaches?

Headaches During Pregnancy
by: Janet

Unfortunately, headaches are something which can occur quite frequently when a woman is pregnant. But we don't want to take pain pills. So what can we do? Try getting more sleep and drinking more water.

The main cause for the headaches is hormones. A woman?s hormones tend to fluctuate quite a bit especially during early pregnancy. She may experience tension headaches or even migraines although many women who get migraines regularly say that they tend to have them less often while they are pregnant.

Headaches can also be caused by a lack of sleep, something which many women experience when they are pregnant.

Tension headaches that are caused by stress can also occur more frequently during pregnancy as well. If you are not getting enough fluids, you can easily become dehydrated during pregnancy and this can cause you to suffer from headaches as well.

Most headaches seem to happen during the first three months. This is because during this time, the body is still trying to adjust to the many physical and hormonal changes that are going on. They tend to become much less common during the second and third trimesters since the body has become used to its pregnant state.

Yes stomach aches and headaches are two of the most common symptoms, especially in the first few months when the body has high estrogen hormone levels. Some ways to get relief include getting more sleep, laying down on your back and elevating your feet for a few minutes, having frequent snacks to eat and drink, and doing some slow breathing while you focus on relaxing your body and mind.
