Often pregnant women experience some light spotting during pregnancy and it can be very scary. You should know that approximately twenty percent of all pregnant women experience some spotting during their pregnancy and they have perfectly normal deliveries at full term.
The symptoms of miscarriage vary and are different for different women.
For some, the first sign of a miscarriage is that you simply don't feel pregnant anymore. Most women experience some cramping from minimal to severe. Usually some bleeding is associated with miscarriage, and that too can range from light to very heavy.
Some women describe a miscarriage as a pain similar to labor pain; but most women do not experience much pain at all during a miscarriage.
That said, most miscarriages occur during the first several weeks of a pregnancy. The farther along you are with your pregnancy, the more painful it can be. It may also be comforting to know that at least 85% of women who experience a miscarriage go on the have a perfectly normal pregnancy on their next try.
If you do experience any signs that might be a miscarriage, be sure to call your doctor. He or she will likely want to do some simple testing to find the problem early. If you are having severe pain or heavy bleeding you should go to the nearest emergency room. Even though doctors cannot stop a miscarriage, you should go and speak with your doctor to get answers and take good care of your health.
