Most implantation bleeding or spotting usually lasts a day or two, or there might be just one instance of it. It is very light and is brownish or pinkish in color, rather than bright red. It

Only about a third of all pregnant women experience implantation bleeding, so do not be concerned if you do not see it if you believe you are pregnant.

When ovulation occurs and an egg is released, it travels down the fallopian tube. One it meets with a live sperm, fertilization can occur. If it does, the egg will attempt to plant itself within the lining of the uterus. Should this implantation occur, some women will experience bleeding or spotting.

The lining of the uterus is rich in minerals and blood. If the fertilized egg sticks to this lining, pregnancy occurs. This usually happens about six to twelve days after fertilization.

Since the lining is so rich in blood, the implantation of the egg can result in bleeding due to parts of the lining traveling down through the cervix and into the vagina.

One of the most common problems with a traditional home pregnancy test is that it is taken too soon. This is often because women think that implantation bleeding is their period until they realize this would put their period early.

When they notice there is no longer any bleeding, they take a home pregnancy test, only to find it is negative because the pregnancy hormone level is not high enough. If this happens to you, give it a couple of weeks and try again.
