Hi I am 7 weeks pregnant and I want to be the healthiest I have ever been. I take my prenatal vitamins every day, plus a fish oil capsule, is that good?

I am 7 weeks pregnant, can I take fish oil?
Most doctors will say that mom's should eat fish to get omega-3 DHA that helps their baby's brain development. However they will also tell you that fish has mercury in it nowadays so not to eat it. What can a pregnant mother do? Take some pure fish oil capsules, that's what. I just put a bottle next to my prenatal vitamins and I take them together every day. I like to take them at night and it seems like I sleep better too for some reason.
My doctor said fish oil is good! by: Anonymous
I am 7 months pregnant with my second and have taken a 1200mg fish oil capsule with both pregnancies. My doctor actually insisted on it!
Yes, fish oil is good for a baby by: Anonymous
There are a lot of studies that say fish oil helps the baby be more healthy, develop very good brain health, avoid allergies, etc. It is thought to help the mom avoid depression too. Just make sure you get a high quality brand of fish oil, not some cheapo kind. You can read more about fish oil on this site, over to the left is a button titled "Omega-3 Fish Oil" and I learned a lot by reading that.
