The Medifast Diet Plan

Seven Advantages of the Medifast diet plan

If you are aiming to lose weight, you may have been recommended a Medifast diet plan. This plan is simply a weight-loss eating regimen in which your eating portions are controlled, the levels of fat that you ingest are much lower, and the amount of nutrients in your diet is controlled and balanced. Unlike other diets where you are free to buy your produce where you want, Medifast meals come in their own packages. You need only mix them with water, pop them into the microwave, and they are ready to eat.

Despite the apparent astronaut-diet set-up of the Medifast diet plan, meals come in the forms of different conventional foods, such as bars, oatmeal, stews, puddings, soups, shakes, and hot drinks. All of these meals are designed by nutritionists and doctors to induce a deficit of calories in your body, thus forcing it to burn the next most available resource: fat. This diet, often called a Medifast 5 & 1 Plan, can thus allow you to lose weight by using your fats as an energy source. Not only does the plan promise that you can lose weight, it also reportedly allows you to maintain muscle mass and keep lean.

As per its name, the Medifast 5 & 1 Plan covers five meals, along with one Lean and Green Meal. The Lean part of the latter can consist of five ounces of cooked lean red meat, or seven ounces of cooked poultry or seafood. On the other hand, the Green portion can consist of either two cups of salad greens mixed in with half a cup of raw vegetables and about two tablespoons of low-carbohydrate salad dressing; or a cup and a half of cooked vegetables that are low in carbohydrates.

The Medifast diet is not recommended if you are pregnant, or if you are suffering from cancer. Always consult with your doctor if the diet is recommended for you and any existing conditions that you may have. If you are interested in the plan, then take note of these seven advantages, and you just might be all the more encouraged to lose weight, thanks to Medifast.

1. To register with the diet, you can visit the official Medifast site online and pay your fees – but your fees are only for the food, and not enrollment in the program, so that you can save more money. In fact, the meals will cost you only about ten dollars a day, although the prices might be higher if you buy individual products. If you think that ten dollars a day can tax on your budget, take note of this: you can spend as much as twenty dollars a day on food, and not all of that food will be nutritious.

2. Membership in the Medifast program can also allow you to avail of online customer support, as well as join in online groups and forums. This can easily put you in touch with people who have the same fitness goals as yours, or people who can help and inspire you to lose weight through the Medifast diet plan. This can be advantageous to you if you need constant support in your undertakings.

3. The diet allows you to have snacks once a day! This is highly advantageous to people who need to chew on something to add to their energy levels; and this can work for people who have to be at the office for the greater part of the day, and have no time to mix Medifast meals, or who cannot function without a little snack in between meals. Take note, however, that the Medifast diet also has its own designated Medifast snacks, which include nutritious soups, soy crisps, and multi-grain crackers.

4. Even with the apparent rigidity of the program, the Medifast diet can allow you to interchange meals, so that you are not forced to eat only certain packets at certain times. This variety is advantageous for people who have differing tastes, and who want to eat certain packets without being pressed for time or duty. There are also Medifast diet plans for kosher eaters, vegetarians, menopausal women, diabetics, arthritics, and those who want to maintain good coronary health.

5. The diet has been proven to be safe. Weight loss due to the diet is slow, but safe as well. You can lose as much as two to five pounds a week because of the Medifast diet.

6. If you are busy and have no time to prepare your meals, then the Medifast diet is for you. All you have to do is add water, stir, and microwave. A hydrated Medifast diet, moreover, can be mixed ahead of time, and then stored in the refrigerator. This can save you time in preparing your food.

7. Many other diets contain stimulants that force your body into activity. Other diets also require you to take vitamin supplements to add to your daily nutrition. Medifast diets are designed so that you can have your daily recommended dose of vitamins. Moreover, Medifast diets do not contain any stimulants; they are simply designed to induce your body to burn fat and use it as your primary energy source.
