Menopause no period for a year

I am in menopause and I have not had a period for over a year, 16 months actually.

I did go through the sweats and hot flushes for a while not extreme then they just stopped.

Now I got my period again. How can this happen when I am 51 years old?

I too have not had a period for over a year (14 months) and now I have started my period. A week ago I noticed extreme breast tenderness, I had become very emotional, and I have felt bloated but never gave any of this a second thought, but now it all makes sense. I have had some new stress in my life that was not there previously. Is this normal?
