Menstruation only lasted 1 day

by Angel

My cycle usually starts in the beginning of the month. I had a cycle for last month already, but this month's cycle came 2 weeks early. Not only was it really light but it only lasted 1 day - 24 hours. I have been watching and waiting until I normally start, but that time passed 3 days ago and I have not started yet. Am I pregnant? What's going on with me?

Me too. We were put on clomid and premarin and we are trying to conceive. All of a sudden, my period shows up but I was curious on why it only lasted for only a day. It looks like menstruation to me. I do hope I'm pregnant even if my hpt shows negative at this time. Thank you so much for putting my mind at ease.

There are several reasons why your period may only have lasted for one day.

The most common reason is pregnancy.

There are many women who will menstruate a day or two even though they are pregnant. In fact, some women have several days of their period the first month they are pregnant.

Implantation bleeding could also be the cause.

When the egg is fertilized and is implanted into the lining of the uterus, there may be some bleeding, since the uterus lining is made of blood.

This usually only lasts a day. Some women mistake this for their period, when in fact they are actually pregnant. They may still have a false negative on a home pregnancy test because they really have not reached the time of their normal period.

Another reason for a period that lasts only one day is prescription birth control.

With some pills, you may notice that you period is almost nonexistent. Some women can go several months without having any period.

If you have missed a pill or two, you may also bleed for a day between doses. When you start taking your pill again, you will most likely stop bleeding.

If you are concerned about the length or intensity of your period, you should see a doctor to put your fears at ease.

If you have been trying to conceive, you may be quite pleased with what your doctor has to tell you!
