Missed period but negative pregnancy test

by Wallace

At the beginning of October I didn't get my period so I took a home pregnancy test and it was negative. The next month, November, I started my normal period. I wanted to go to the doctor but I live in a small town and I don't want the word to go around that I'm pregnant yet. So I have been coming online and looking at all the signs of pregnancy. Some of the signs I've noticed are that I have been getting head aches, lower back pains, and fatigue/tiredness.

Not all missed periods means pregnancy
by: Alice

One of the most frustrating things that can happen when you think you are pregnant is to miss your period, but still have a negative pregnancy test.

It?s actually more common that you might think. There are a number of reasons why you might have a negative pregnancy test.

Other than the obvious reason of not actually being pregnant, you may have miscalculated when you thought your period was due.

You may have tested a day or two before the test can actually detect the level of HCG in your urine.

While the home pregnancy tests are getting much more advanced at early detection of pregnancy, there are limitations.

Most require that you be at least one day late before the test will provide a positive result. If you have missed your period and you have a negative pregnancy test, then you should retest a week later.

If you have still not gotten your period by then and this test is negative as well, then you should see your doctor for a blood pregnancy test.

There are a few women who produce such a low level of the HCG hormone that a positive pregnancy test may not be possible until the fifth or sixth week.

A blood test can help you determine if you are indeed pregnant or if there are problems with your period that need to be addressed by your doctor.

Remember that your period could be delayed due to stress, extreme exercise or illness.

Your doctor will help you figure out if these are some of the problems.

Missed period for two months

Okay I never, ever miss my period and I haven't been stressing at all lately so I don't know why I didn't have my period last month or this month. I took a pregnancy test a week ago and it was negative so I'm wondering - what could be the problem?

PCOS polystic ovary syndrome
by: Anonymous

I have missed periods, so I went on the pill to try to regulate it. After a few years I came off it and my periods were still irregular. I went to the doctors and they investigated and it turns out I have PCOS polystic ovary syndrome. It is very common with 1 in 4 woman having it, however they told me there is no cure. PCOS is where a woman has little cysts on her ovaries. A lot of women who have pcos do go on to have children.

The pill can help regulate periods

Some women miss a period but they are not pregnant. It just happens sometimes due to stress or changes in hormones, etc. Some go to the doctor and go on the pill to help regulate their monthly cycle and also relieve the worry about pregnancy.

I sometimes miss getting my period at my regular time and I don't know what is wrong. Sometimes when I miss one I think I might be pregnant but then later I get one the next month. Every time it happens I'm so afraid. Please help me to know if you think I can get pregnant with this situation of missed and irregular periods, thanks.
