Ovulation after the pill?

by Emily
(England)

Hi, my partner and I have recently decided to try to have a baby so I stopped taking my BC pills. I ovulated on Wednesday, but before that I was having minor stomach aches. Ever since Wednesday I've had stomach cramps, I've been feeling sick, had a bad taste in my mouth, feel tired, have a headache, sore breasts, and a little bit moody.

I went to the doctors on Friday because my stomach pains hadn't gone away and he said I was just ovulating even though id been getting these cramps and pains for 3 days. Over the weekend the pains have died off. I'm still feeling sick and having stomach aches but most symptoms stopped last night and today I don't feel much. Do you think it could be implantation symptoms? Could I be pregnant or is it just all in my mind?

Withdrawal Symptoms from BC Pills
by: Anonymous

Sometimes when a woman stops taking birth control pills she will feel symptoms of withdrawal. The pills are hormones and they trick the body so it does not begin ovulation.

After you stop taking them the body has to adjust back to normal. This adjustment can cause symptoms, and so can the start of normal ovulation.

Both of those happening at once could be causing the early pregnancy symptoms that you described.

But you still might be pregnant so you can take a home pregnancy test, or you can go to the doctor for a blood test which is the most accurate.
