I can relate to this. One of the things many of us women may experience in perimenopause is a change in perspiration and sweating and in various body odors. What a hassle.
Menopause is causing hormone fluctuations and these changes are affecting the body's previous hormone balance. This can cause sweating and ... yes some smells and odors.
The apocrine glands are what produce the sweat. This sweat is actually odorless at first but it can soon start to smell once bacteria gets to work on it. Maybe we can't stop the sweating but we can remove the bacteria. Since you are sweating more often, including night sweats and hot flashes, you might have to shower more often, maybe several times a day.
Some women I know who are going through menopause will shower in the morning, shower again after work or after going to the gym, and shower one more time before bed. Be sure to use a good deodorant soap as it will remove the bacteria. The smell comes from the bacteria.
Wearing cotton underwear and clothing and changing it often is also helpful because it is absorbent, while some other fabrics may trap the bacteria against the skin.
A vitamin supplement that contains Magnesium and Zinc might be helpful, if you are deficient in magnesium and Zinc. I'm not sure why that helps but many of my friends who are going through the fun of the perimenopause body odor challenge have told me that it does.
