Popeyes Chicken
Nutrition Information

The facts about the mystery of popeyes chicken nutrition information are finally revealed here.

Have you been wondering about the nutrition facts regarding this chicken? We have too.

There is no doubt that fried chicken tastes good, but what kind of calories and fat and carbohydrates are we eating?

We went to Popeyes and asked for a list of ingredients and nutrition facts, like many other restaurants have. The Popeyes we visited didn't have one.

We checked their website but there was no popeyes chicken nutrition information to be found there either.

So we did the next best thing. We looked at some other brands of fried chicken for their restaurant nutritional information.

This is not the exact amount of calories and fat in the Popeyes product of course. But until they publish their own information we can only go with general guidelines.

The fact is, most chicken that is battered and deep fried in oil has plenty of added fat and calories.

Let us take the most healthy piece of the chicken for our example. The chicken breast.

A typical breaded and fried chicken breast may have about 380 calories, 19 fat grams, 6 saturated fat grams, 145 milligrams of cholesterol and 11 grams of carbs.

How do I know? I got this information from their competitor, Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Popeyes chicken nutrition information should compare to this in a similar way. You can change the breading, but if it is made from some kind of starch and is deep fried in oil, what could make any big difference?

Now according to KFC, if we take off the skin and breading it is a whole different story.

Fried chicken with the skin and breading removed only has 140 calories. You save 240 calories! It only has 3 fat grams. You save 16 fat grams. It only has 1 gram of saturated. Only 95 milligrans of cholesterol, saving you 50 milligrams. And - get this- it has zero carbs. Zero.

So the breaded, fried skin alone is packing 240 calories and 16 grams of fat and 11 grams of carbs. Just that little bit of skin and batter on the outside. Take it off. Yikes.

Now you are saying, "Hey that deep fried batter and skin is the reason I like to eat fried chicken in the first place!"

Okay, that is true. But if you are looking for popeyes chicken nutrition information then maybe you are trying to improve your nutrition.

In that case, eat all the chicken breast you want, it is good food. But if you are trying to cut down on calories, fat, carbs and cholesterol ... take off that skin and coating. Sorry but you've read the facts.

That skin and batter won't fill you up so you will still be hungry. It just adds a lot of fat and calories and such to your body.

When you go out to eat, ask for grilled chicken, then you won't be tempted to eat the batter. Most chicken restaurants now offer grilled, skinless chicken without the batter.

As soon as the Popeyes corporation publishes the official popeyes chicken nutrition information we will have to make do with this comparison to Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Note, Kentucky Fried Chicken does indeed offer healthy and good tasting grilled chicken breast items without batter.

This website and popeyes chicken nutrition information webpage is not related to either Popeyes chicken or Kentucky Fried Chicken and this information is published here simply as a restaurant review.
