Pregnant while on the pill?

I have been on the pill now for 5 months, but recently I am showing some signs of being pregnant. Is this possible?

Not usually but sometimes

Since you just started a few months ago you might just be having signs that your body is getting used to the BC.

What signs are you showing? Some signs that still do occur when people get pregnant while on the pill might include breast tenderness, nausea, feeling tired, missing a period, having to go to the restroom often, feeling bloated, etc. Many of the same ones that occur when not on the BC.

The pill helps to prevent ovulation. If it is taken correctly and regularly some claim that it works 99.9 percent of the time. So maybe 1 out of 1000 women who take it might become pregnant anyway. But that is only if it is taken correctly and on time without missing any days.

Most of the time when women get pregnant while on the BC pill it is because they skipped a day of protection somehow. Maybe they forget to take a dose, or they ran out and didn't start a new package on the day it was due, or when they ran out they used an old product they found in their purse or medicine cabinet that was past the expiration date and no longer as effective, etc.

So when we factor in human error, the percentage of women who get pregnant while taking the pill could be estimated at more like 3 out of 100, rather than 1 out of 1000. Something like that.

Did you ever skip a day?

Home pregnancy tests are still effective while on the pill so you can take a test and find out if you are pregnant or not.
