The age thing

What are your thoughts first?

My thoughts would have to be, have a baby when you are most likely ready - and I don't mean real, real Young. I mean like around the 20's or 30's. Maybe 40's are okay but 50's? I wouldn't think so.

Too old to have a baby?

Many women wonder if they are too old to have a baby. However, it is interesting to note that the oldest women to ever give birth did so just recently at the age of 72. She gave birth to twins!

There are obviously health concerns for older women, but with a doctor?s care, many of the problems can be avoided.

I had my first child at the age of 24. My second was born when I was 28. My final child was born when I was 38. I will say that I had a more difficult pregnancy with my last child than with my first two.

Most resources you will find say that having a baby after the age of 35 is considered high risk for both the baby and the mother.

You may have to receive more prenatal care and your delivery will be considered high risk. There is a higher chance of birth defects the older the mother is, as well as other problems.

It is always best to speak with your doctor because they will know your overall health.

Many people fear having a child after the age of 40 simply because they will be 58 or older when their child graduates college.

However, this is really a personal decision. I will be 56 when my youngest graduates and I certainly plan to be around for many years after wards!

Some women want to feel secure in their lives, especially in terms of finances. For those that have children, you know just how expensive they can be.

However, if you want to wait until you?re older to have children, it?s your choice!

It depends on your health

A lot of people wonder if they are too old to have a baby at age 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43 and so on. It really depends on the health of the individual and what their doctor says after a complete check up. One person may be very healthy at age 40 for example, while another person may have had a hard life and is suffering from very poor health. Ask your doctor.
