Week 8 of Pregnancy
During this week 8 of pregnancy, your baby may be the size of a bean with a tail. The baby is growing by the millisecond. The developments are visible with an ultrasound. The mothers are also feeling some changes. That is why a visit to the doctor is very essential. There are some doctors who prefer check ups to be done during this week, since your period would have been delayed by two months.
Exciting developments are happening during this week. The baby is about 14 up to 20 mm in length. They would have also formed an eye-lid-like structure. The tail is likely to disappear. At the same time, toes and fingers are webbed. The arms and elbows are also more visible. The lungs and muscles are also working overtime to develop. However, they are still a long way from being matured enough for use. During this week, the mothers would also be feeling more changes. Even if your belly does not look pregnant, you are bound to notice some of your favorite jeans tightening. The changes look as if you are bloated. It may be a little too early to wear large maternity dresses, but you should consider loosening up your clothes. This would also provide you ultimate comfort if you are wearing looser clothes. In shopping for maternity clothes, make sure that these can be worn in office in case you plan to stay working during this period. You should also include clothes for everyday wear. It would also be better to buy clothes which you can remove easily for you would be peeing more often. Consider also investing in bras that would be able to support your breasts’ swelling. These should be about a size or two bigger so that you can use it throughout pregnancy. At the same time, make sure that you wear more comfortable shoes. These shoes would be essential to make sure that you do not trip while wearing high heels or such. The shoes are also going to be vital for the last weeks of pregnancy so that you would suffer less from painful ligaments and some pains due to added weight. During this week, adjustments in diet are very important. Now, diet should be focused on the quality of food rather than the number of calories. Thus, mothers should be focusing on avoiding too much sweets and salty foods. Craving may be starting to bother you at times. It is not bad to give in to cravings, however, you should also learn what healthier substitutes are available. Say, you are craving for sweets, but not chocolates in particular, try eating sweet fruits like watermelon. Taking in more water and juice is also very important. The week should also be focused on taking notes on your doctor visits regarding precautions you should take since this week is part of miscarriage prone period of pregnancy. You should also be able to visit the doctor. Discuss some of the changes you experience. If you can have your partner to go with you, then that would be much better.
