When is the best time to get pregnant?
by: Christina

The most fertile time each month in which to get pregnant is during the period of ovulation in your menstrual cycle.

This is when the level of luteinizing hormone, or LH, surges and the mature ovum is released from the follicles into the uterus. The ovum or egg is ready for fertilization, but it stays in good shape for a limited period of about 12 hours. It will start to degenerate after that.

The best way to determine when you are most fertile is to learn to spot the physical signs that your body will display when you are ovulating. This is the best time to get pregnant.

One way to determine when you are most fertile is to determine when your next period is due. Count back about 12 to 16 days. If you have a normal 28-day cycle, then the 14th day is your best day to become pregnant. However, in order to use this method, you will have to know how long your period usually lasts and you will need to have regular cycles. There are several ovulation calendars online that you can download and print off to help you plan your most fertile days.

Your body will also show certain signs when you are most pregnant. The most common is a change in cervical mucus. As you approach ovulation time, your body?s estrogen level will rise. You may notice that this mucus becomes clear, slippery, and stretchy. It resembles raw eggs. It is one of the best indicators that you are ovulating. Intercourse during this time is most likely to make you pregnant.

Women's fertility cycle
by: Anonymous

A woman's fertility cycle usually has ovulation occur around two weeks before or after her monthly menstruation. So on a 28 day cycle, the best day to try to conceive would usually be 14 days before or after your cycle. So if you often have your period on the same day every month, mark the calendar at 14 days prior to that and try to conceive on that day and the several days before and several days after. Try every other day, give it a rest every other day. Hope that helps.
